I was born and raised in Kibbutz Shamir, in the Upper Galilee. After my military service, I spent several years in Tel Aviv. I studied music education at Levinsky College (now the Academic College Levinsky-Wingate), received my B.Ed. and teaching certificate, and taught music for a few years.

From 1996 to 2002, I lived with my family in Houston, Texas, where I worked as a registrar for Camp Young Judaea–Texas. I became familiar with the world of American Jews which, as an Israeli, was an eye-opener for me. Thus, when we returned to Israel, I found my place in the Jewish Agency's Partnership Unit (Partnership2Gether, the former Partnership 2000). For about 15 years, I worked with the Jewish Federations of South Palm Beach County, Orlando, Indianapolis, Buffalo, San Antonio, and several others, helping to tighten their connections to Israel.

I have always loved both the Hebrew and English languages, and was drawn to translation and editing. So finally, I decided to put that love to good use, and took a two-year course in English-Hebrew translation at Beit Berl College. I have been practicing my new profession since 2010. I have translated several academic books and articles in psychology, education, and the social sciences. I have also translated much organizational material (e.g., donor reports) from Hebrew to English for the Jewish Agency, Tel-Hai College, and other NGO's, including Jewish Federations in the US.

 

My new field of expertise is translating life stories from English to Hebrew. Two major works I have translated are:

• A Tapestry of Coincidences – a Holocaust memoir by survivor Miriam Nick. Read more about it here.
